We are looking for a passionate and skilled Substance Misuse Nurse to join a leading addictions charity to be based in a hospital in West London working Monday to Friday 9-5. The salary for this role is up to £43,500 plus £4,133.14 Inner London Weighting and other amazing benefits!

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in improving outcomes for individuals affected by drug and alcohol use. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will deliver specialist clinical interventions within an acute hospital setting, acting as a vital link between hospital services and community-based treatment teams.

About the Substance Misuse Nurse role:
You will be a key liaison between the acute hospital (including A&E) and community substance misuse services, supporting patients whose hospital presentation or admission is related to alcohol or drug use. The role involves advanced clinical assessment, care planning, harm reduction, and discharge coordination.

Key responsibilities include:

Delivering clinical interventions to reduce alcohol- and drug-related hospital presentations and admissions
Conducting advanced assessments for patients using substances, including withdrawal management
Using recognised assessment tools such as COWS and CIWA-AR to support safe and effective care
Providing specialist advice to hospital staff on the clinical management of substance misuse
Working closely with A&E, inpatient wards, psychiatry liaison, dual diagnosis services, and other specialist teams
Contributing to MDT discussions and patient management plans
Supporting patients during hospital admission and facilitating safe discharge to community services

About You:
We are looking for a nurse who is compassionate, non-judgemental, and confident working with complex needs.
Essential criteria:

First-level Registered Nurse with a current NMC PIN
Relevant post-registration clinical experience
Experience working with substance misuse patients in settings such as A&E, prison healthcare, acute hospitals, or community services
Practical experience using COWS and CIWA-AR assessment tools
Strong understanding of harm reduction and health promotion
Ability to complete comprehensive assessments, care plans, and clinical documentation
Excellent communication and multidisciplinary working skills
