Interim Regional Home Manager

Adults Learning Disabilities & Autism | Merseyside & Cheshire
£350 per day + mileage | Interim contract

Are you an experienced Registered Manager, Regional Manager or Interim Home Manager looking for your next leadership assignment in adult social care?

We are recruiting an accomplished Interim Regional Home Manager to provide operational leadership and support across three small, specialist adult residential homes in Merseyside and Cheshire. Each service supports adults with learning disabilities, autism and associated complex needs in person-centred, community-based environments.

This is an excellent interim opportunity for a confident, visible leader who can maintain high standards, empower existing management teams and ensure consistently outstanding outcomes for the people supported.

All three homes are small services of between 2 and 4 beds, are currently CQC compliant, and have established Deputy Managers in place. Your focus will be to provide regional oversight, operational stability, quality assurance and leadership across the services.

The Role

As Interim Regional Home Manager, you will take responsibility for the effective day-to-day leadership and performance of three adult residential care homes. You will work closely with Deputies and wider senior leadership to maintain safe, compliant, high-quality services where people are supported to live fulfilling and meaningful lives.

You will bring a calm, solutions-focused approach, with the ability to quickly understand service priorities, build credibility with teams and ensure robust governance across multiple locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide interim operational leadership across three adult residential homes in Merseyside and Cheshire.
  • Ensure each service remains safe, compliant, person-centred and responsive to individual needs.
  • Maintain and embed a strong culture of safeguarding, positive risk management and high-quality care.
  • Support, coach and develop Deputy Managers to lead their homes confidently and effectively.
  • Monitor CQC compliance, quality assurance activity, audits, action plans and service improvement priorities.
  • Ensure services operate in line with relevant legislation, regulatory requirements, policies and best practice.
  • Lead on operational decision-making and escalation management across the region.
  • Maintain oversight of staffing, recruitment, induction, training, supervision and team performance.
  • Promote positive behaviour support, trauma-informed practice and person-centred approaches.
  • Build positive relationships with families, professionals, commissioners and external stakeholders.
  • Drive continuous improvement while protecting the existing strong performance of each service.
  • Act as a visible role model, promoting collaborative working, accountability and a positive team culture.

About the Services

The homes provide specialist residential support for adults with:

  • Learning disabilities
  • Autism
  • Complex needs
  • Behavioural support needs

The services are small, homely and community-based, enabling tailored support and meaningful outcomes for every individual. With CQC-compliant homes and experienced Deputies already in post, this assignment is ideally suited to an interim leader who can offer oversight, structure and practical support rather than needing to rebuild underperforming services.

What We’re Looking For

To be successful in this Interim Regional Home Manager role, you will have:

  • Proven experience as a Registered Manager, Area Manager, Regional Manager, Operations Manager or Interim Manager within adult social care.
  • Strong experience supporting adults with learning disabilities and autism.
  • A clear working knowledge of CQC regulations, the Health and Social Care Act, safeguarding and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience managing or overseeing multiple residential services, or the ability to demonstrate readiness for regional responsibility.
  • Excellent leadership, coaching and people-management skills.
  • A practical, hands-on and commercially aware approach to operational management.
  • Confidence in audit, quality assurance, action planning and service improvement.
  • The ability to work independently, prioritise across several homes and respond effectively to changing operational demands.
  • Relevant Health and Social Care qualifications; a Level 3 qualification is essential, with Level 5 leadership qualifications desirable.
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across Merseyside and Cheshire.

Package

  • £350 per day
  • Mileage paid
  • Interim regional leadership assignment
  • Oversight of three established, CQC-compliant adult residential homes
  • Supportive Deputy Managers in every service
  • Opportunity to make an immediate, meaningful impact across specialist autism and learning-disability services
