Are you a Healthcare Assistant with proven phlebotomy and ECG skills, looking for regular agency shifts within a fast-paced clinical environment?

We are recruiting for a Healthcare Assistant to support an established GP-led Primary Care Unit at Worcestershire Royal Hospital. The service works alongside A&E, supporting suitable patients who are redirected into a GP and HCA-led clinical pathway.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HCA looking for consistent evening and weekend agency work, with an immediate start available.

Available Shifts

• Monday to Friday: 3:30pm to 10:00pm.
• Saturday: 9:30am to 4:00pm.
• Saturday: 3:30pm to 10:00pm.
• Sunday: 9:30am to 4:00pm.
• Sunday: 3:30pm to 10:00pm.

Regular weekly availability is preferred, although you do not need to cover every shift.

The Role

As a Healthcare Assistant, you will support patients being managed through the Primary Care Unit pathway.

Working alongside GPs and other HCAs, you will carry out clinical observations and core HCA duties, identify signs of deterioration and escalate appropriately while maintaining accurate clinical records.

Responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out phlebotomy and venepuncture.
• Recording ECGs accurately and safely.
• Taking and documenting full clinical observations.
• Supporting basic wound care.
• Monitoring patients and recognising clinical deterioration.
• Understanding and using NEWS2 appropriately.
• Escalating concerns to the GP or appropriate clinician.
• Maintaining accurate electronic clinical records.
• Working within your clinical competencies and scope of practice.
• Following infection prevention, safeguarding and clinical governance procedures.

What You Will Need

• Recent experience within a GP Practice, PCN, Urgent Care, Community Service or similar clinical environment.
• Proven, recently used competency in phlebotomy / venepuncture.
• Proven competency in ECG recording.
• Practical competency that can be evidenced through observation and formal sign-off.
• Experience taking and recording full clinical observations.
• Understanding of NEWS2 and patient deterioration.
• Confidence knowing when concerns should be escalated to a clinician.
• Basic wound care experience.
• Understanding of infection prevention and control.
• Good safeguarding knowledge.
• Strong clinical record-keeping skills.
• Confidence working independently within scope.
• Ability to work effectively within a busy, fast-paced service.
• Confidence using electronic patient record systems.

EMIS experience is highly desirable.

Additional experience in suture removal, steri-strip application, wound care and primary care competencies would also be advantageous.

Please note that phlebotomy and ECG competency are key requirements. Training certificates alone will not be sufficient without evidence of practical competency and appropriate sign-off.
