Take the lead on complex court work and make a lasting difference

Leaders in Care is recruiting an experienced Advanced Social Worker to join a specialist Court Team in Jersey. Operating as a 12-month pilot, the team will lead live care proceedings and deliver robust, evidence-based care planning for children and families.

With an immediate start available, this is an opportunity to bring your court expertise to a dedicated team while experiencing life in Jersey.

The role

You’ll manage a complex caseload from the issue of care proceedings through to their conclusion and implementation of agreed care plans. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Producing high-quality court statements, assessments and care plans.
  • Providing expert evidence and leading complex legal proceedings.
  • Delivering direct work with children, young people and families.
  • Managing risk and coordinating effective multi-agency safeguarding interventions.
  • Championing trauma-informed, strengths-based practice and motivational interviewing.
  • Modelling excellent practice and supporting colleagues with complex decision-making.

What you’ll need

  • A recognised Social Work qualification and current Social Work England registration.
  • At least five years’ post-qualifying experience in Children’s Social Care.
  • Proven experience of care proceedings and giving evidence in court.
  • Strong statutory safeguarding, assessment and care-planning experience.
  • Excellent report-writing skills and the ability to meet statutory timescales.
  • Experience of parenting assessments, including together or apart assessments.
  • A full, clean manual driving licence and willingness to travel across the island.
  • An Enhanced DBS certificate, preferably on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.

Knowledge of the Family Safeguarding Model, ParentAssess and Capacity to Protect is desirable, but not essential.

Contract, accommodation and travel

  • £51.50 per hour, working 37 hours per week.
  • 12-month temporary agency contract.
  • Immediate start available.
  • Government of Jersey staff accommodation is arranged, but is not free. The full rental cost is deducted from the worker’s pay by the agency and paid to the Government of Jersey.
  • One flight or foot-passenger ferry journey to Jersey at the start of the contract, and one return journey at the end, are funded by the service.
  • Mileage and other travel expenses are not covered.

Successful applicants will need five years of employment references, explanations for employment gaps, identity and driving licence documents, Enhanced DBS documentation, overseas police checks where applicable, and proof of Social Work England and Jersey Care Commission registration.
