As a Surgical First Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering safe, quality care for patients during their perioperative phase.
  • Supporting and assisting in the management and organisation of care within the Operating Department.
  • Assisting in the delivery of patient care.
  • Contributing to quality improvement.
  • Developing and enhancing the skills and knowledge of others and yourself.
  • Assembling, checking, and preparing surgical equipment, instruments, and consumables for various procedures.

The ideal candidate for the Surgical First Assistant role will have:

  • Registration as a Nurse/ODP with NMC or HCPC.
  • Surgical First Assistant Qualification
  • ILS certification.
  • A Mentorship qualification.
  • Orthopaedic experience.
